You may wonder, what is the big deal? Why should you care about technology breakthroughs anyway? Well there are some very good reasons, and one of them is the potential for positive change. Through smart technology cars are now being made more fuel efficient than ever, and some are electric, negating the need for carbon-emitting fossil fuels altogether.

Being able to embrace technology also allows you to be more profitable if you are a business owner. For example, most consumers do not carry cash on them anymore. If you only allow cash transactions and refuse to get a debit or credit card reading device you could loose a lot of potential customers, and sales.  A Google Maps listing is another example of where technology can drive traffic to your shop that may not have considered visiting it otherwise.

Another incentive for studying future technology is information for education’s sake. The mind that is constantly learning is forever young. You never know when a new piece of tech could improve your business, personal life, or health and well being.

Technology has allowed the age of information to flourish. Within seconds, and right at your fingertips you can learn all that you could ever want to know about a particular subject. It has never been easier, or cheaper, to become self-taught in a particular discipline. You could watch free videos, subscribe to a blog, or download worksheets and learn how to play an instrument, cook a recipe, craft an object, or create art. The possibilities are endless.

Finally, there is the prospect of influence. By staying appraised of the newest trends in the industry you can not only be an informed consumer, but can help others stay abreast of new solutions that might work well for them.

Learning to love technology breakthroughs can not only benefit your life, but the lives of others. It is a noble pursuit to not only embrace change as it comes, but to help your community adapt to it as well. You could help your parents set up their internet, enable a senior care center to do online Tai Chi classes, or record a video that your long-distance love can watch on their birthday. Technology can not only bring humankind together, but can make life all the better for it, and what’s not to love about that?
